Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound, originally released in Japan as *Dragon Ball Z: Gekitotsu!! 100-oku Power no Senshi-tachi*, is a 1994 Japanese animated science fantasy martial arts film and the eighth feature film in the *Dragon Ball Z* series. It premiered in Japan on July 10 as part of the Toei Anime Fair, sharing the bill with *Dr. Slump and Arale-chan: N-cha! From Penguin Village with Love* and *Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie*. The villain Bojack was conceived by writer Takao Koyama and visually designed by series creator Akira Toriyama. This film marks the final appearance of Kōhei Miyauchi as the voice of Master Roshi, as the actor passed away two years after the movie’s release. It follows *Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan* and precedes *Dragon Ball Z: Broly – Second Coming*.
The story begins when a wealthy family hosts an intergalactic martial arts tournament on Earth, drawing fighters from across the galaxy, including Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and Krillin. All except Yamcha advance easily, worrying Mr. Satan, who recognizes them from the battle against Cell and realizes he will have to face the winner. In the semifinals, Trunks defeats Tien, while Piccolo, bored by the lack of challenge, forfeits against Krillin. Gohan, Trunks, and Krillin reach the finals, where each is matched against an alien fighter. The fight promoter soon realizes these aliens are not the staged impostors he hired. Trunks faces a sword-wielding alien named Kogu, Krillin is beaten by a female alien named Zangya, Gohan confronts the mysterious Bujin, and another contestant, Bido, kills the alien Gokua. Meanwhile, Mr. Satan, faking stomach pain to avoid fighting, gets trapped in a transport pod and sent to the battlefield.
Trunks is forced to transform into a Super Saiyan to kill Kogu, but is then struck down by an unseen foe. Gohan continues his fight with Bujin until he finds Trunks and Krillin incapacitated. Bojack arrives and explains his plans to conquer the universe. Tien and Yamcha join the fight but are quickly defeated by Bojack’s minions. Gohan battles them while Bojack watches. In Other World, Goku and King Kai observe with concern.
